Pastor Gretchen has served as pastor at North Brewer Eddington UMC since July 2018. Pastor Gretchen has a BS degree in elementary education from the University of Maine and taught for several years prior to answering God's call to become a pastor. Before coming to NBEUMC, Pastor Gretchen served as pastor at Grace United Methodist Church in Bangor, ME. Pastor Gretchen is passionate about leading people to be fully devoted followers of Jesus so that we may partner with God in sharing Christ's love and new life with all people. Before becoming a pastor, she served as the Sunday School Superintendent at Orono United Methodist Church, and led the Old Town United Methodist Church Youth Group with her husband Scott. In addition to her responsibilities at NBEUMC, Pastor Gretchen serves as a Street Pastor, with the Greater Bangor Area Street Pastors. This ministry is a team of laity and clergy from several denominations, who go out to listen, care and share practical acts of kindness with our neighbors in down town Bangor every Friday night. Pastor Gretchen is also member of APART, (Addiction Prevention, Addiction Recovery Team) of the Northern Maine District of the New England United Methodist Church Conference. This group works to find ways in which the church can assist those who struggle with, or are impacted by, substance abuse disorder, and connect with and provide resources to fight substance abuse disorder. Pastor Gretchen enjoys journaling, photography, taking walks, and spending time at her family's camp on the ocean. She and her husband, Scott, are the parents of two adult sons, Ryan and Shawn.
